Why corrections matter here

Incorrect information about the PPS number process has practical consequences. A reader who brings the wrong documents to a DSP appointment faces a deferred application and a wait for a new appointment — which at busy times can be several weeks. A reader who is told the wrong thing about their eligibility may spend time preparing an application they are not yet ready to make.

We take correction submissions seriously. The DSP's document requirements do change, and there can be a gap between a change and our update of the relevant page. Readers who have recently been through the process are often the first to spot when something has changed.

What qualifies as a correction

• An incorrect description of the documents required for a PPS number application
• Outdated information about the appointment booking process or the DSP office locations that handle PPSN applications
• An incorrect statement about eligibility (for example, who can apply, what immigration statuses qualify)
• Inaccurate information about the child PPS number application process
• A broken or incorrect link to a DSP, gov.ie, or Citizens Information page
• Any other factual error that could cause a reader to prepare incorrectly for their application

• A source reference — ideally a link to the relevant DSP or gov.ie page

If you went through the process recently and the experience differed from what the page describes, that is also useful information even without a formal source reference — please include the date and which DSP office you attended.

Our review process

1. Acknowledgement within two working days.
2. Verification against the DSP's published guidance and, where relevant, direct verification with the DSP.
3. Update of the affected page if the correction is confirmed.
4. Response to the submitter with the outcome.

We aim to complete this process within five working days. Corrections that relate to documents or eligibility criteria — where an error could cause practical problems for readers who are preparing an application — are treated as priority updates.

How corrections are marked

Minor corrections (broken links, minor wording issues) are applied without a visible notice. Significant corrections (incorrect document requirements, wrong eligibility criteria) are noted on the page with a revision date. Material corrections are recorded in the log below.
