About PPSNumberGuide.ie

Published by D'Emilia Accounting — accountants who help immigrants navigate the Irish tax and social welfare system every day.

Why we built this

Getting a PPS number is one of the first things every person arriving in Ireland must do — before starting work, before claiming any benefit, before registering with Revenue. Yet the process is poorly documented, and many new arrivals waste weeks because they brought the wrong documents or didn't know they already had a number from a previous stay in Ireland.

PPSNumberGuide.ie exists to fix that. Clear information, in plain language, about what a PPS number is, how to get one, and what to do at every point in the process.

Who we are

PPSNumberGuide.ie is published by D'Emilia Accounting, an Irish accounting firm specialising in immigrants, self-employed individuals, and people new to the Irish tax system.

Content is reviewed by Vitor Alves, co-founder of D'Emilia Accounting, to ensure it accurately reflects current DEASP and Revenue procedures.

Our approach

We write for the person who just arrived in Ireland and needs to understand the process — not for a policy expert. We cite official sources (gov.ie, revenue.ie) so you can verify what you read. We update content when procedures change.

Need help beyond the guide? D'Emilia Accounting assists with PPS number applications, tax registration, PAYE, and all Revenue processes — in Portuguese and English.
