Your PPS number is on many official documents. Here is how to find it without applying for a new one — because you cannot get a second PPS number.
Your PPS number appears on many documents. Check these before contacting DSP or Revenue:
| Document or source | Where the PPS number appears |
|---|---|
| Payslips | Usually printed in the employee details section |
| P60 (end-of-year tax certificate) | Printed at the top of the form |
| Tax credit certificate (P2C) | At the top of the Revenue certificate |
| Revenue correspondence | Any letter from Revenue shows your PPS number |
| DSP correspondence | Any letter from the Department of Social Protection |
| Revenue myAccount | Log in at revenue.ie — visible in your profile |
| MyGovID / mywelfare.ie | Visible in your verified online account |
| Public Services Card (PSC) | The card itself does not show it; use the linked MyGovID app |

Yes. If you are registered with Revenue, log in to myAccount at revenue.ie — your PPS number is visible in your profile. Alternatively, call the Revenue helpline (01 738 3636) and they can confirm your PPS number after verifying your identity.
Yes. Call the DSP helpline at 1890 927 999 or 071 967 2616. They will ask identity verification questions before confirming your PPS number. It helps to have a date of birth, full name, and previous Irish address to hand.
If you have never worked or claimed benefits in Ireland, you may genuinely not have a PPS number. In that case, you need to apply in person at a DSP Intreo Centre. See our guide on how to apply for a PPS number.
No. If you previously had a PPS number and lost track of it, you already have one — you just need to find it. DSP does not issue a new PPS number to replace a "lost" one. If you apply for a second number without disclosing you already have one, this is fraudulent.
Yes. If you have a verified MyGovID account linked to your Public Services Card, your PPS number is accessible through the app or online at mygovid.ie. The Public Services Card itself does not display the PPS number, but the digital account linked to it does.
